patient_ot For me what really stands out here is that the album sounds dark, but doesn't really try too hard to be dark, it just is. The drum programming appears to be done entirely from scratch, with few, if any sampled breakbeats or generic drum sounds. The snare work in particular is like some sort of mechanical machine winding up at times. It's technical without resorting to the drill and bass stuff that got really popular a couple of years later.
